What services do you offer?

We provide specialist services for the installation and repair of underground pipes and cables. This includes the following key services:

  • Pipe Ramming

  • Water Pipe Repairs

  • Water Pipe Replacements

  • New Water Supply Installation

  • Underground Cable Installation

  • Trenching

We provide start-to-completion services for the above.

What is a moling service?

Moling is a technique that uses a pneumatic tool to create a tunnel through soil without disturbing the surface. It enables the efficient and effective installation or repair of underground utilities with minimal impact on the surrounding environment.

Can you mole under a road?

Yes! One benefit of impact moling is that it enables us to create tunnels underneath existing surfaces. Our moling services are suitable for installing pipes and cables underneath roads, paths, driveways and other surfaces without causing damage.

Who is responsible for replacing old lead pipes?

You are responsible for water pipe replacements on your property, starting at the boundary line. If you share a supply pipe, it is the responsibility of you and any neighbours you share the supply pipe with.

How do you repair a water pipe without replacing it?

When undertaking water pipe repairs, we pinpoint the location of the leak or damage rather than just replacing the whole system. We can then repair that specific section of pipe. This is an excellent option if the rest of the system is in good condition because our localised repairs effectively solve the issue without having to replace all the pipework.

Do underground cables need to be armoured if they’re in ducting?

Generally, armoured cables must be used for underground cable installations. However, it is permissible to install an unarmoured cable in the ground as long as it is inside a conduit or duct that provides equivalent protection against mechanical damage.

What are the rules for underground cables?

Buried cable installations must comply with specific regulations, including BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and Part P of the Building Regulations. Key rules include correct installation depths and suitable measures to protect cables from damage.

MacMole adheres to all current regulations when providing impact moling services, underground cable installations, cable ducting installations and other services in Ashford, Canterbury, Maidstone, Medway, Sevenoaks, Sittingbourne, Tunbridge Wells, Kent and the surrounding areas.
